Fever Dreams

This April, JT and The Clouds will be releasing their latest album entitled Caledonia. This week they leaked the albums first single called “Fever Dreams”. The track is heavily influenced by classic rhythm and blues with elements of upbeat modern gospel. It’s an exciting mixture of horns and organs and soulful melodies.

JT and The Clouds will be embarking on cross country later this month which has them arriving back in Chicago for an album release show at Empty Bottle on April 16th.

Hello, Small Chicago

An exciting new website launched this month called Small Chicago. The concept is to recorded mostly local bands performing live. The site films three songs with two cameras and captures it all on the first take. The first band they are featuring is Coltrane Motion. The band performed the above track “Year Without a Summer” as well as “Ex-girlfriend in a Coma” and “Can’t”. It looks like it will be a great series and a big boost to Chicago music.

You can catch Coltrane Motion live on March 25th at Double Door.

From our Open Blog: Warm Ones

Warm Ones is the brevity that speaks in perfect harmony. Equal parts after-school special, adult film and Polish- style buffet, the Chicago four-piece specializes in aggressively catchy indie rock songs that range from bubble gum pop, found on such tracks as “Small Spies” and “Love For A Week” - to noisy garage riffs like “Bacteriostatic”. The band is as experimental as it is grounded in simplicity and the result has been strong songs, dynamic recordings and memorable melodies. On Jan 21st, 2010, Warm Ones released their debut full length album "Sprezzatura" to a packed house at the Hideout in Chicago. In the two weeks since it's release, the album has already received positive reviews from Tribune writer Matt Pais in Metromix and the Redeye, and received airplay on 93XRT courtesy of Richard Milne, who described the Warm Ones record as one of his favorite releases of the year so far.
