New York singer/songwriter Rachael Sage premieres 'I've Been Waiting' + plays Rockwood on 5.13

Ahead of the release of her latest album 'Choreographic' on 5/20, New York singer/songwriter Rachael Sage today premieres "I've Been Waiting" (streaming below) off the effort. A sultry yet warm song that smoothly melds potentially disparate genres as folk and pop, the string-lined track tells of interpersonal longing with Aimee Mann-like poetic bewitchment. "Cover me with butterfly kisses/I could be the one you haunt," Sage sings, unabashed desire sliding through. Rachael Sage will perform at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 on 5/13. - Zach Weg

WXPN's Key Fest Returns at MilkBoy Philly April 22 - 24

WXPN returns to MilkBoy Philly this weekend with its second annual Key Fest. Each bill has been tailored to bring together performances by like-minded local artists for an evening. Kicking things off tonight, you’ll find plenty of hip-hop grooves and electro-soul with Ill Doots, Kate Faust, Hardwork Movement, and Joie Kathos. On Saturday, indie rock/pop-tinged singer-songwriters will be the focus. The Deli Philly’s 2015 runner-up for Emerging Artist(s) of the Year, Kississippi, will be holding down the primetime slot as the evening’s headliner, supported by Shelf Life, Cherry, and Madalean Gauze. And finally, the folkies will be out in Center City this Sunday, and bringing the mellow will be the sweet sounds of Hezekiah Jones, Howlish, Lou, and Friendship. MilkBoy Philly, 1200 Chestnut St., 8pm, $12, 21+ - H.M. Kaufman

Rest in Purple, Prince Rogers Nelson

Facing the actual reality that one of the most influential beings to ever walk this planet has now since left it, is a big pill to swallow. I, just like the rest of you, woke up to a series of posts all around the internet proclaiming the death of the Purple One himself, Prince. It just can't be true and there is a great deal of us (myself included) who will continue to not accept this as reality.

But it seems that as it's presently known, Prince passed away earlier this morning, found in his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota. It is reported that Prince had been dealing with complications from the flu, which is believed to have been the cause of his really f**king untimely passing.

Prince was numerically aged at 57, but essentially immortally timeless. Trying to adjust to a world without Bowie and Lemmy was hard enough, but Prince...that's where we've got to drawn the line.

Rest in Purple, Prince.

New Track: "Orion" (Live) - Tapes & Tubes

Recorded live at W/N W/N, this take of “Orion” by Tapes & Tubes (a.k.a. Austin Potter) paints a historically nostalgic portrait of a town that’s been rundown by time. Catching a bird’s eye view, the brief scene is a reminder that a simple setting still carries a deeper story. Tapes & Tubes will bringing his poetic verses to Ortlieb’s on Thursday, April 28, with Patrick Mansfield, Lauren and Paddy, and Thick Red Wine.
