Yankee Bluff

New Yankee Bluff EP Available for Streaming & Download

September 4 is the official release date for Yanked, the new EP from Yankee Bluff; however, it’s currently available to streaming and download. Subdued melodies create a quick catchiness, with lyrical precision, revealing itself with each additional rotation. It’s a tightly spun musical fabric, whose push and pull between upbeat optimism and dreary downs rocks one into submission. The band is set to perform at Space 1026 this Thursday, August 24, on a lineup that also includes Amanda X, Permanent Body, and Doe.

Slovenian Daisy, the new album from Yankee Bluff, cultivates a stripped-down, incisively melodic method. Melissa Brain (Marge), Pat Conaboy (The Spirit of the Beehive), and Dan Angel (Gunk) aid in adding the percussive elements, while the EP swims in stealth, simple grooves, occupying a casual but contagious air. You catch Yankee Bluff live at Boot & Saddle on Wednesday, February 8 with fellow Philly acts Shannen Moser and Cool Points.

Weekend Warrior, October 21 - 23

Disenchanting, unfiltered, steamrolling melodies streams from Amanda X. That focused post-punk sincerity tumbles ahead in a gritty, graceful manner, compiling a calm catharsis whilst simultaneously exposing the raw threads of emotion. This Saturday’s lineup at Everybody Hits is also reinforced by the delicate introspections of Yankee Bluff, whose loose jangly vibes are hardwired by a polished connection, and the bombarding, heavy rhythms and unrelenting riffs that coalesce as Hound swings for the fences. The exuberant, poetry-engrained punk of Pujol provides another intriguing wrinkle to this evening. Everybody Hits, 529 W. Girard Ave., 8:30pm, $8, All Ages (Photo by Scott Troyan) - Michael Colavita

Weekend Warrior, Sept. 9 - 11

Yankee Bluff is a local Philly outfit that features members of Dogs On Acid and Algernon Cadwallader. However, the band pushes beyond its former scope into new terrains, evoking everything from Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dead Milkmen to the Magnetic Fields. Yankee Bluff will be opening for Violent Soho this Saturday at Underground Arts. The Aussies will be bringing their grungy, crushing sound, brain flossing guitars, and soul hammering grooves to the City of Brotherly Love as well as their new ARIA chart-topping album WACO. Chicago post-punks Meat Wave will also be joining in the festivities. Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 8pm, $14, 21+ - Keith Kelley
