Another Deli sponsored show 'At the Inn' with Sam Cohen, Adrianne Lenker and Keenan O'Meara

The Deli will be sponsoring another one of Hypnocraft’s free and open-to-the-public shows at the lovely Greenpoint restaurant and piano bar, Manhattan Inn. This event is part of the series, “At the Inn” and we are excited to announce that the line-up for this coming Monday, August 24th, is packed with some super-gifted folks. Sam Cohen of Apollo Sunshine and Yellowbirds will be returning to preform his captivating folk-rock, followed by the talented Adrianne Lenker whose alt love songs make our hearts swoon. The night will end with Keenan O’Meara, the folk singer/songwriter who recently released the haunting single, "Rainstorms" (streaming below). It should be a night to remember, filled with noteworthy performances in a cozy, intimate setting. We hope to see you there! - Lauren Schechter

TONIGHT! read The Deli at The Inn with Nicole Atkins, Jared Samuel of Invisible Familiars, Sam Cohen, TEEN

Once a month The Deli sponsors Hypnocraft's lovely shows at the Greenpoint restaurant/piano bar Manhattan Inn - the series goes under the name "At the Inn." This upcoming Monday July 13th, some artists very dear to The Deli will be performing within a night that's a tribute to John Lennon & Harry Nilsson. Not many of you will be aware that super talented Nicole Atkins (pictured) was on the cover of the third issue of The Deli a few years a go (more than a few actually...). We are also huge fans of Sam Cohen and TEEN, bands we covered abundantly, while Jared Samuel's newer act Invisible Familiars recently got a full feature on our NYC print issue. All these artists, among others, will be performing in the Inn's intimate setting, and - should your company be not incredibly entartainig - the room will be well lit enough to allow you to read the latest issues of The Deli in between sets! See ya there! More info here.

Sam Cohen and the Creative Process

After lending his creative juices to (great) bands Apollo Sunshine and Yellowbirds, Brooklyn songwriter, musician and producer  Sam Cohen decided it was time to go solo. The Deli has always been a fan of his bands' records, (Yellowbirds' "The Color" was The Deli NYC's Record of the Month back in 2011), with their influences ranging from vintage pop to '60s psychedelia. What we hear from his solo debut "Cool It" doesn't disappoint, so we decided to ask Sam a few questions about his creative process, the making of records, and his relationship with the Muses. - Read the Q&A on our Delicious Audio (a Deli blog focused on guitar pedals and recording).

Sam Cohen of Yellowbirds releases solo album "Cool It"

We've always been fans of Sam Cohen's band Yellowbirds, which celebrated their farewell show in November 2014, so it's great to hear that the NYC composer and producer is coming out with a solo album entitled "Cool It," scheduled for a late April release. Single "Let the Mountain Come to You" (streaming) features heavy '70s influences and Sam's signature vocals.

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!
