Purling Hiss

New Purling Hiss EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

"Summer meanz guitarz!" With Purling Hiss's latest EP Interstellar Blue, a gravitational pull of heavy is balanced by an ethereal drift. Its languid, mind-warping, guitar grooves have arrived just in time for the dog days of summer - a sublime complement to a frosty beverage and a fat spliff. You can grab your very own copy via Drag City Records. Purling Hiss are also all set to kick off their run of July shows this evening at PhilaMOCA, supported by The Writhing Squares and Long Hots.

New Track: "Useful Information" - Purling Hiss

Interstellar Blue, the forthcoming EP from Purling Hiss, is set to arrive on July 9 via Drag City. Mike Polizze and friends recently shared its lead single, “Useful Information,” an even-keeled, psych-blues sojourn. The track takes you on a languid, muggy stroll in the summer sun, as a bit of guitar-fueled heat blares down upon you. Purling Hiss will be performing next in Philly on Thursday, July 11, with support from Writhing Squares and Long Hots.

Weekend Warrior, July 20 - 22

Enveloped in a heavy-psych haze, Purling Hiss shreds in a primal, untamed fury. With jarring blazes of guitar-anchored glory, the band navigates through simmering and smoking hot sonic pockets. Relentless rhythms pace the ship, as it veers into unknown yet intriguing territories. Tomorrow night at Johnny Brenda’s, they’ll be headlining a locals-only bill, reinforced by the raw, grunge, syncopated stampede of Fight Amp-Legendary Divorce offshoot, Low Dose, who will be performing live for the first time. The fuzz-rattling post-punk of Plot will help to lay the groundwork for the evening's festivities. – Michael Colavita

Weekend Warrior, April 21 - 23

Rowdy, restless, riff-charged Dark Web tied us in with their self-titled album (The Deli Philly’s April Record of the Month). This Saturday, their nonstop sewer punk sounds serve as the primer for a Record Store Day lineup at Repo Records that doesn’t quit. The stampeding, snarling, punk anthems of Posers enter the fray, while a fire-breathing, raw-rock fury explodes from the down and dirty exploits of Residuels. The murky, mystic, synth-laced, darkwave of Remote Control will dial you in, and sticky, psych grooves and sweltering exploratory guitar runs set off the closing solo set from Purling Hiss

As the day dwindles down, Eris Temple Arts will host the release show for chamber-folk ensemble On the Water’s new EP Superposition. Whether dashing forward in exuberant rock or swaying in reflective melodies, Dominic resonates. Potentially showcasing material from their forthcoming album Burn Bridges, Burn Pies, the Mad-Hattered, quirky concoctions of OhBree is on the slate, as are the adventurous-eclectic instrumentation merged with captivating songwriting of Dear Rabbit. The duo of Baby & Shylow, which features Aleks Martray (Grandchildren), kicks off the proceedings. - Michael Colavita
