New Music Video: "Emotional Collapse" - Hound

Hound frontman Perry Shall looks like he's having the best time getting the worst presents at his bday celebration in the band's new music video for "Emotional Collapse". The faux home-movie backdrop gives way to some bitchin' heavy-psych jams that are found on their latest LP Out Of Space (SRA Records). Enjoy!

Don't Belong w/Harsh Vibes at JB's Jan. 6

Harsh Vibes conjure a sense of not belonging, while seeking and destroying all in its path. The blend of acid rock, noise and metal is not for the faint of heart with soundscapes enveloping you in a sea of guitar riffs, menacing low-end, and unrelenting drums. Harsh Vibes will be sharing their latest sacrifice to the world, the 12" You Left Me Far Behind, tonight at Johnny Brenda's. Along to test the decibel levels of the room will be metal enthusiasts Ruby The Hatchet and Hound. This evening might be a good night to bring those earplugs that you hate so much. Johnny Brenda's 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Alexis V.

New Track: "Cold Blooded" - Hound

Metal power trio Hound, featuring Perry Shall (Dry Feet) and Chris Wilson (Ted Leo and the Pharmacists), will be welcoming two releases this evening at Everybody Hits. The studio LP Out of Space was recorded with Will Yip at Studio 4, and Live at Golden Tea House was laid down before the demise of the beloved West Philly DIY venue. Both albums will be available via SRA Records, and you can listen to the track "Cold Blooded" from the former below.

Hound Opening for Diarrhea Planet at Underground Arts Nov. 20

As the week draws to a close, one eagerly awaits that opportunity to break loose, when the work is behind you (at least for a moment) and the volume dial goes way up. Hound is the type of band you’ll want to push the decibel levels with. Loaded with menacing metal riffs and a thriving, full-bore backend, the intensity is instantaneous with raw, raunchy jams that pound into your skull in a way that classic metal/hard rock enthusiast will appreciate - heavy with an uncompromising force prepared for all comers. Tonight, Hound forges the way to a pair of Nashville bands, the loose-rolling, tight-turning immediacy of Music Band and the shred-tastic, pop-rock marriage known as Diarrhea Planet. Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 8pm, $13, 21+ - Michael Colavita

Hound Opening for Bardo Pond at Underground Arts Feb. 7

Veteran psych-rock superstars Bardo Pond will be playing a tripped out set that will be sure to mesmerize at Underground Arts tonight. And they'll be joined by the pulse-pounding, hard-hitting trio Hound, who captured my attention in a big way with the release of Out of Time, during the tail end of last year. The group brings heavy psychedelic stoner metal, at its finest, to the table, and channels fond memories of old school Motorhead and Black Sabbath. And they'll likely be unleashing some new tunes since they've been in the process of recording a new EP that should be out in the not too distant future. The show will also feature the brash, in-your-face rock of Watery LoveUnderground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 8pm, $10, All Ages (Hound Photo by Heather McGinniss) - Bill McThrill
