Harsh Vibes

Weekend Warrior, August 29 - September 1

Yes, yes - Budweiser’s Made in America is in town once again (as well as in Los Angeles), but if you’ve been following or are familiar with The Deli Magazine, then you should know that we prefer to experience concerts in a more intimate setting. And you should discover that at the grand opening of Kensington’s Chill Collins Art Space this Saturday, where you’ll find the psych-rock-lovin’ lineup of Drone Ranger, Harsh Vibes, Seismic Thrust, Space Drugs, and Xiannoi. So avoid the crowds this weekend in Center City and support the artists that will appreciate and actually notice that you made it out - enjoy! Chill Collins Art Space, (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more info.), 8pm, $5, All Ages - Alexis V.

Drift Into an Alternative Perspective w/Harsh Vibes at Bourbon & Branch June 13

The week’s complete. Bourbon & Branch offers the opportunity to dislodge from the grind and drift into an alternative perspective via the vessel of Harsh Vibes. Stretching out the jams and engulfing you in layer upon layer of hypnotic noise, each movement interlocking with the next, rocketing farther out than expected and exhibiting a cumulative directional strength without becoming forceful because once the ship gets going, you can’t help sitting back and handing over the controls. Helping the gradual shift to the space-drifter paradigm, shoegazers Dreambook has an affinity for distorted guitars, longingly reaching toward the abyss while the backend determines/implies a sense of urgency. The vocals supply a dream-like yet dreary internalized echo. A little closer to the surface rests the shoegazing pop-punk assemblage of Ghost Gum, as Carolyn Hayes’ vocals cut through the cosmos, and Chicago’s Crown Larks round out the evening. Bourbon & Branch, 705 N. 2nd St., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita

FREE Grand Opening Show w/Harsh Vibes at Bourbon & Branch Feb. 22

There's another promising new music venue opening up in Philly. Bourbon & Branch will be taking the place of Liberties in NoLibs, and tonight, they'll be celebrating their grand opening with a FREE live music showcase. Headlining the evening are metal-tinged, noisy acid rockers and Deli faves Harsh Vibes, who will also be joined by Nolan Maher (of Abilities) and Bean Trees. It's beautiful out. Come feel the vibes! BTW: Also, look out for a rad residency with Night Panther coming in April - cheers, B & B! Bourbon & Branch, 705 N. 2nd St., 9pm, FREE, 21+ - Q.D. Tran

Harsh Vibes Releases Three Songs from Their Upcoming Album

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the intensely dark, screamcore metal band (and SF based band Happy Diving's side project), Harsh Vibes has graced us with three songs from their upcoming album. This collection of songs which is appropriately titled, III showcases the tracks, LOVESICK, ENDLESS and UNTITLED. It's hard to say if or what the full length upcoming album is going to be titled, but the three songs that the band has released are disturbing, loud and awesome. III is aggressive and the instrumental basis of the songs are tighly composed and almost traditional with their metal stylings.

Keep an eye out for Harsh Vibe's complete album. In the meantime, they've shared an insanely strong example of what to expect, and the level of the new material they have to offer. -je
