New Track: "Listening In" - Dr. Dog

Critical Equation, the forthcoming album from Dr. Dog, will be released on April 27 via Thirty Tigers. Intertwining an eerie sense of isolation as the steady march of rhythm progresses, “Listening In” carries an unsettling air of mystery. Coupling those haunting vibes with the familiar reinforcement of harmony and jagged instrumental inserts creates a sonic landscape open to discovery. Festival Pier will be playing host to the Philly stalwarts on Saturday, June 23, where they'll be supported by local wunderkind (Sandy) Alex G.

New Dr. Dog LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Dr. Dog just surprised us with a new, mostly acoustic full-length album, Abandoned Mansion. It was actually recorded before their last LP, The Psychedelic Swamp, which was funded by a grant from Pig Iron Theater Company that was about to expire so its release took precedent at the time. And if you purchase a download of Abandoned Mansion from now to the end of January, all the proceeds will be donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Hop Along & Dr. Dog Return Home at The Fillmore March 17

Touring compatriots, Hop Along and Dr. Dog, return home tonight for the evening to perform at The Fillmore. The Psychedelic Swamp continues with Dr. Dog’s psych-pop rock trek, lacing infectious harmonies with reinforced surf-textured tunes to ease you into an undeniable groove. This crew peppers its songs with elements of oddity, in an accessible rejoicing art-pop manner. Further fueling the home cooking for the evening, the quartet of Hop Along balance memorable storytelling with raw yet refined instrumentation that sinks into the cut, breaking loose when the moment is just right ,as the gut-shorn ferocity of Frances Quinlan’s vocals catapult forward. They’re constantly on the move, so let'ss welcome them home. The Fillmore Philadelphia, 1000 Frankford Ave., $32, All Ages (Hop Along Photo by Ryan Muir) - Michael Colavita

New Music Video: "Badvertise" - Dr. Dog

Dr. Dog’s creative collaboration with Pig Iron Theatre Company, Swamp Is On, was an oddly charming extraterrestrial experience. While we await word on a new album, this music video for “Badvertise,” takes a humorous spin on infomercial culture. The costumes are reminiscent of the Beastie Boys's “Intergalactic,” showcasing a playful demeanor while transmitting a catchy song through the scope of another space. The video was directed by Ilan Bachrach and Josh Higgason.
