De Lux

Stream: De Lux, "Make Space"

New wave space disco pioneers, De Lux, have shared another single off their upcoming debut LP, 'Voyage,' set for release in April on Innovative Leisure. A delightfully odd dance tune, "Make Space," has me wanting to bust out my glittery polyester jumpsuit and lucite platforms. There's an absurdity to the duo's music a la The Talking Heads, that is simply fun. The synthesizers and funk riffs make for a fantastically produced track, but at the end of the day, you just want to keep it on repeat and dance around your room with a hairbrush. So, stay inside today and follow those instructions in the song, "Move around, don't fall, make space." - Jacqueline Caruso

Stream: De Lux, “Better At Making Time”

The highly anticipated project from 22-year olds Sean Guerin and Isaac Franco is finally available for public consumption. It was announced a few months back that the duo were set to release their debut LP on Innovative Leisure next year, but without any clue as to what they were up to sonically. Well, now we have the preemptive EP to keep on repeat while we wait for the full length. Released by Scion AV (yep, the Toyota owned company), the five song EP is an impressively dense and unpretentious glimpse into the world of De Lux, which I’m sure we will become more acquainted with in the coming months. The first single, “Better At Making Time,” is a post-disco groovy dance tune rife with catchy synth lines and an uncanny David Byrne influence. I first saw them live at The Echo when The Deli LA presented the last night of the Haunted Summer Residency. They had a seven piece band pulling off every element from these recordings in a way that stunned the crowd. De Lux is the new wave of the future. - Jacqueline Caruso

The Deli LA Presents: Haunted Summer at The Echo Tonight

Mystical duo Haunted Summer have been enchanting audiences each monday during this spook-filled month of October for their residency at The Echo. This coming Monday, to close out the whole shebang, The Deli LA will be presenting the night. Their residency is centered around the release of their EP, ‘Something in The Water.’ Playing songs off the EP as well as new tunes written during their recent honeymoon in Paris, John Seasons and Bridgette Eliza Moody, will be backed by a full band. Last week, they debuted the live version of a former B-side, “Ain’t One,” which is streaming below. It was a showstopper, featuring Moody’s light-as-air vocals soaring above the band’s signature psyched-out sound design experimentation. The line-up for the final week is stellar, featuring a Deli Mag favorite, Touché, who we reviewed earlier this year, alongside recent singees to Innovative Leisure whose music has mysteriously evaporated from the interweb, De Lux, as well as densely, spaced-out newcomers, Historian. It’s sure to be one of those epic, celebratory evenings made for re-telling. Head to The Echo’s site for more info and set times. - Jacqueline Caruso
