New Music Video: "Tempted By The Void" - Cousin Brian

With the caveat of "still dead just keeping you updated on the new demos," former snotty punks Cousin Brian recently shared another new sampling of their latest sound. With an accompanying, bathed-in-neon-cosmic glow, "Tempted By The Void" floats into a psych- jangle headspace. Consumed by the combination of soft strums, synth, and reverberating vocals, one is set adrift into the ethereal. Let's find these guys a drummer, and make this transformation complete.

New Music Video: "Disposer" - Cousin Brian

While Cousin Brian work on finding a record label to release their upcoming album Closer to Dog, the band has a new music video to keep us entertained. Check out the rad blank & white animation that was created by the mind of the band's guitarist Elliott Beck! It's for the track "Disposer," which is off the group's full-length First. Enjoy! Weekend Warrior, March 13 - 15

There are few (if any) shows in town that are going to be better this weekend than this Sunday’s bill at South Philly’s A House Named Virtue. Headlined by NYC transplants via Connecticut and New Jersey, Mannequin Pussy, the trio of Marissa Dabice (guitar/vocals), Thanasi Paul (guitar), and Kaleen Reading (drums), perform with such ferocity that you just can’t help but instantly become a fan. Well, that’s if you enjoy being obliterated by loud, aggressive punk; however, they also have the ability to create haunting, anthemic melodies that lie under their thick wall of noise. Ex-Dangerous Ponies’ Chrissy Tashjian, Kyle Pulley, and Mike Tashjian are back together again with Thin Lips, a project that holds on to the combination’s ability to write infectious pop hooks, while giving Pulley room to unleash his inner hardcore kid. Cousin Brian, with their new lineup, will be performing their first show since Halloween. Also joining the house party are Boston’s Ben Katzman’s Degreaser and Miami’s The Jellyfish Brothers. A House Named Virtue (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more info.), 8pm, $5, All Ages - Alexis V.

“Real Halloween Party” at Toby’s Purgatory Oct. 31

It’s gonna be a punk Halloween tonight at Toby’s Purgatory, featuring locals only that represent a variety of sounds from the genre in the city. Adding a refreshing female voice to the scene is Cool Points’ Jill Mallon. She leads the noise-rock crew with a straightforward sass and aggression that will charm your pants off, but she’s definitely “not your bro”! Cool Points will be joined by headliners Mumblr, who are pulling double duty, warming up earlier in the night at TJ Kong’s Halloween Murder Show. You’ll also find antagonistic punks Cousin Brian stirring up trouble while we patiently wait for the follow-up to their debut LP First. Rounding out the bill will be hardcore outfit Disinterest and pop-punkers Cold Foamers. Get sweaty, and celebrate at the “Real Halloween Party” the right way - fast and loud. Toby’s Purgatory, (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more info.), 6pm, All Ages - Emily DiCicco
