The Bad Doctors

Catch a Matinee w/The Bad Doctors at The Slow Cub March 8

Get off to a quick start today with a matinee show at The Slow Club. With their new LP Burning City, due out in May via FDH Records (currently in its’ preorder phase), the trio of The Bad Doctors will likely feature some fresh material. The group moved closer to synth-laced dance-pop on their most recent EP Re Animate, altering the overall tone with injections of post-punk grit. The outcome is resoundingly positive while still acknowledging a darker, shadowy undercurrent. The Bad Doctors will be sharing the bill this afternoon with a pair of Boston-based punk outfits St. Ripper, who released a volatile five-song EP Agony of the Mind last month, and the relentless intensity of Animal Mother. The Slow Club, (Please contact one of the acts or the venue for more info.), 3pm, $5, All Ages, - Michael Colavita

Update: The Bad Doctors have dropped off the lineup, and have been replaced by Bad Side, which probably matches better sonically.

R5’s Free Concert Series w/Mischief Brew & The Bad Doctors at Morgan’s Pier July 17

Folk-punks Mischief Brew are rolling into Morgan’s Pier tonight for R5’s free concert series. The group has been fighting the power with their tunes of anarchy and the workingman’s struggles since the early aughts. You’ll more likely find frontman Erik Petersen performing solo and taking on the battle with simply his guitar and words these days so this evening will be a good opportunity to hear some of your favorite songs of rebellion on full blast. You’ll also receive an extra charge of energy when post-punk trio The Bad Doctors kick off the festivities with their cure for these heat-wave blues. So grab a cold drink and get over the hump of this workweek! Morgan’s Pier, 221 N. Columbus Ave., 9pm, Free, 21+ - Alexis V.

The Bad Doctors Opening for JEFF the Brotherhood & Hunters at KFN May 16

Tonight is the first half of a big two-night run for Kung Fu Necktie with Nashville rising stars JEFF the Brotherhood and Brooklyn noise rockers Hunters. Representing Philly this evening will be New Wave post-punks The Bad Doctors. The trio has certainly been impressing audiences in our local basement/DIY scene, and with the release of their two-song 7” towards the end of last year, we are all looking forward to the band dropping something more substantial hopefully in the near future. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $15, 21+ - Alexis V.

Free R5 Show w/The Bad Doctors Opening for Rank/Xerox at KFN Aug. 13

With all the free shows happening at Morgan’s Pier, it definitely feels like the summer of freebies provided by R5 Productions, which I really don’t want to end. And it doesn’t have to. Well, not just yet. Tonight at Kung Fu Necktie, service industry folks and those who don’t mind beginning their work week with a hangover will be getting a bonus free show this week. Local electro, post-punkers The Bad Doctors will be kicking the evening off. The trio recently recorded some new material for a 7” that will be released by Eaglebauer Records so be on the look out for that one. They’ll also be playing host and supporting San Francisco’s Rank/Xerox and Rat Columns. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, Free, 21+ - H.M. Kauffman
