American Trappist

Weekend Warrior - June 28 - 30

Amuse-Oreille, Vol. 2, the latest EP from American Trappist, is out today. Joe Michelini and company produce an earnest, incisive viewpoint. Welding a rough-around-the-edges mentality with the ability to iron things out into breezy, easy-flowing storylines, the songs shift from a sun-setting, sand-between-your-toes, intimate sway to a more aggressive, “get the fuck out of my way” stomp. This Saturday at Johnny Brenda’s, American Trappist will be celebrating the album’s release, joined by musical brethren The Vernes, whose latest release Yr of the Rat was produced by Michelini. The album gently cruises in a pleasant progressing though slightly somber contemplative state. The assertive yet poppy, garage-psych trio, Grace Vonderkuhn, lays down the groundwork for a most excellent evening. – Michael Colavita

New Music Video: "Holy Moses" (Feat. Lesley Barth) - American Trappist

“Holy Moses” is the new single from American Trappist, and can be found on Joe Michelini's forthcoming EP Amuse-Oreille, Vol. 2. The track features NYC singer-songwriter Lesley Barth, and in the accompanying video, you find a disheveled Michelini drunkenly strolling towards the camera, sipping on some Tonewood Brewing. A breezy, humid, spring/summer-evening vibe sets the tone. However, that sense of ease is countered by the heaviness of guilt and seeking forgiveness, expressed in the lyrics. American Trappist is slated to co-headline Johnny Brenda’s on Saturday, June 29 with The Vernes and additional support from Grace Vonderkuhn.

Announcing The Deli Philly's 10th Anniversary Bash!

Dear Deli Readers,

This is a big one! We are very excited to announce the lineup for The Deli Philly’s 10th Anniversary Bash on Saturday, October 6th at PhilaMOCA. Yup – that’s right; for nearly a decade now, our branch of The Deli has been proudly exposing you to the wonderful, homegrown talent that has fostered this kick-ass music community of ours. It’s been an honor and a privilege to document this slice of musical history and share it with you, and we hope to continue on this journey with you for many years to come.

Headlining this momentous occasion will be glam quartet Sixteen Jackies, who also recently released our June Record of the Month. If you’ve never experienced them live, you are certainly in for a treat, and if you have, then we’ll see you there. They’ll also be joined by the anthemic songwriting of American Trappist, the brainchild of former River City Extension frontman Joe Michelini. And feel free to submit yourself to the ladies of Madalean Gauze, who will be bringing their naughty brand of post-punk/psych-rock hijinx to the mausoleum’s hallowed halls. Yeah – it’s on. Looking forward to sharing this very special evening with you! More deets about the celebration HERE.

Much love,

Q.D. Tran & The Deli Staff

New American Trappist LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

American Trappist's new LP, Tentanda Via, comes across as both an exploration of existential inventory and a multifaceted musical endeavor. Balancing the stressors of uncertainty while coming to grips with beliefs or lack thereof is something that can shake one’s foundation. The weight of importance in those decisions/realizations are heavy barriers to break through. Former River City Extension frontman Joe Michelini continues to impress as a skilled songwriter on his sophomore full-length album.
