Abi Reimold

Abi Reimold's Exhilarating Cyclone Hits the Beach House August 16

Abi Reimold orchestrates the kind of folk that grips with emotional intensity. Her vocals climb evolving from a bone chilling stir that, when teamed up with ferocious instrumentation, transforms into an exhilarating ominous cyclone. Tonight at Beach House, Reimold will be joined by the gut-tearing swells of local quartet Blankbook. A pair of New York-based acts, the somberly expressive bedroom songs of   Personality Disorders, and the reflectively honest energetic pop punk of Monster Bad are also penciled in.  Hailing from Pocono Summit, emo-punk four-piece In Writing completes Sunday lineup that plays how it feels. Beach House (Please contact one of the acts ore venue for more info.) 7pm, $5, All Ages – Michael Colavita

New Track: "Promise" - Abi Reimold

With “Promise,” a new song that is featured on Pile of Keith (a compilation of up-and-coming DIY Baltimore and Philadelphia artists released via Pack Rat Records), Abi Reimold has ventured into unexpected territory albeit momentarily. Co-written with and produced by Rob Devious, the track couples Reimold’s alluring vocals with a trap beat that locks you in as warm kinetics balance that emotional grip. Reimold is set to perform this Saturday, July 11 at Boot & Saddle, opening for SOAK.

Hello Shark Radiates at Everybody Hits June 12

There’s internal strength that radiates from Hello Shark’s ability to create songs that provide a truly personal point of view. That ability to expose vulnerability and spin it out of the dark corners of one’s mind into a better, brighter space in those odd yet beautiful lyrical images is a rare gift. Tonight, at Everybody Hits, Hello Shark will be joined in by Peter Gill’s alt-country-folk sound known as Friendship, coating engaging narratives in sparse instrumentation. Abi Reimold’s haunting folk that takes on elements of an imposing storm is also set to perform, potentially showcasing new material, while psych-pop trio Seismic Thrust completes the evening of local talent. Everybody Hits, 529 W. Girard Ave., 8pm, $5, All Ages - Michael Colavita

Abi Reimold Opening for Mumblr at KFN Feb. 16

Abi Reimold’ s music toes that grey threshold between beautiful reflections with an internal rage as that energy converts from potential to fleshed out unfiltered expression. As we await her forthcoming full-length Wriggling, she hits the stage this evening at Kung Fu Necktie. The tug-of-war sound that Reimold enacts in the instrumental volatility and lyrical component establishes an enticing honesty, representing the strength versus struggle dynamic at its core. Mumblr headlines tonight's showcase, presented by The Guild, with their pop-punk blend weaving in and out between isolating emotives and their joyful unabashed rocking reactions. The quirky, catchy, unfiltered sledgehammer of punks Brown Rainbow may catch you off-guard, but it grows on you in a delightfully strange manner. Combustible Arkansas two-piece Radradriot wraps up the bill that will blanket this Monday's deep freeze. Kung Fu Necktie 1250 N. Front St., 8pm, $6, 21+ - Michael Colavita

The Mellowells Providing a Natural Ease at Lavender Town Nov. 15

There’s a natural ease to The Mellowells, a gentle steady climb of sound piecing together a denser/stronger overall product along the way. So, when a song reaches the top looking down, you don’t realize how far you’ve traveled. That fluid, rolling energetic groove and vocals that have a stream of consciousness, spoken-diary/observation feel with just enough aches to squeeze into your house and a raw outpouring of instrumentation once the band reaches the pinnacle. Tonight, The Mellowells are a part of the birthday celebration at Lavender Town. Speaking of which, Mumblr has that manner of developing catchy pop-punk tunes that form around Nick Morrison’s versatile vocals and then explode with instrumental fervor. The show also features the emotive-lined rock of Clique and intentionally rough around the edges, single candle illuminated catharsis of Abi Reimold with its jagged cutting guitars and smooth but penetrating vocals. Lavender Town, (Please contact one of the acts or venue for more info),7pm, $3-$5, All Ages – Michael Colavita
