New Video: "Arranged" (Live - BrooklynVegan Acoustic Sessions) - Abi Reimold

Below is a live solo performance by Abi Reimold of "Arranged," which is the opening track from her latest album Wriggling (Sad Cactus). It was recorded in Philadelphia inside a defunct train tunnel with a skylight for BrooklynVegan Acoustic Sessions. You can catch Riemold this evening at The Leonard Pearlstein Gallery for Philly Radness, where you'll also experience an "interactive pop-up skatepark," as well as the sounds of Queen of Jeans and Hemming. Curtis Cooper Record Release Show at JB's March 15

Curtis Cooper’s full-length debut Laughing In Line could be simply considered folk-oriented singer/songwriter material. However, that label might carry a stigma that fails to take into account the diversity of sounds these songs represent. Cooper steers enthusiastic, soulful-driven narratives that clearly carry personal ramifications, but venture beyond that locality, booming forward in a determined folk-rock framework. It momentously marches, luring with a communal evocation. Abi Reimold (joined by a full band) melds calming catharsis with an agitated aggression that grabs the reins, taking control of emotive energy in explosive rockin' resolutions. Emmett Drueding sings songs steeped in the searching atmosphere of rural Americana, while the ghostly stir of Julia Rainer may send a shiver up your spine. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita

New Music Video: "Mask" - Abi Reimold

Abi Reimold lets go of her everyday life, and finds her inner punk chicken(?) in her new music video for "Mask." The footage was directed by Jay Miller, capturing the universal feeling a lot of us experience in our daily lives and finds a humorous way to unmask what really lies underneath. Reimold will perform next in Philly, backed by a full band, on Tuesday, March 15 at Johnny Brenda's supporting tour bud Curtis Cooper's album release. (Photo by Michael Ash Smith)

Abi Reimold Opening for Julien Baker at Boot & Saddle Jan. 20

The wait for Abi Reimold’s LP Wriggling via Sad Cactus Records will end shortly when it’s released next week on January 26. However, those who don’t want to wait that long should head to Boot & Saddle this evening, as she occupies the opening slot. Reimold entices with incisive lyrical imagery and a variation of instrumental tones that ranges from tranquil folk reflection, building to noisier turbulence and controlling the dynamics in a way that reveals vulnerability, while simultaneously unleashing a fierce force to be reckoned with. Tonight, Reimold will be paired with the beautifully aching honesty of Julien Baker. Boot & Saddle, 1131 S. Broad St., 8:30pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita

New Video: "Vessel" (Live) - Abi Reimold

Local singer-songwriter Abi Reimold has a new album, Wriggling, coming out on January 26 via Sad Cactus Records. We already tasted its lead single, "Sugar," earlier this week, and now, she has shared her second offering from the forthcoming record called "Vessel." The take, found on Wriggling, is from a live session that was shot on a Philly rooftop by Jay Miller, which you can view below. Reimold will also be performing at Boot & Saddle on Wednesday, January 20 opening for Julien Baker.
