New Inauguration Day Protest Compilation to Benefit the ACLU

"This compilation is an expression of love, anger, hope and protest on inauguration day. Let it serve as a reminder that the fight for justice is not over, that the celebration of diversity is essential to progress, that we must work together for what is fair and good. Can’t stop. Won’t Stop. Don’t stop now."

Featuring a plethora of Philly's favorite indie musicians like Radiator Hospital, Abi Reimold, Jon Loudon (Restorations), Marisa Dabice (Mannequin Pussy), Pat Conaboy (The Spirit of the Beehive), August Koch (Cayetana), and so many more covering iconic artists (Neil Young, John Lennon, David Bowie, New Order, etc.), the thirty-eight song compilation, Don't Stop Now: a collection of covers, will hopefully bring you some type of solace as well as inspiration today, as we prepare for the ginormous battle that lies ahead of us. But have no fear - we'll all be here for each other. FUCK COMRADE TRUMP! All proceeds from this compilation will benefit the ACLU.

Abi Reimold Opening for Ava Luna at Space 1026 Sept. 25

Raw, visceral, dreamy, anything she wants to sound like. Abi Reimold brings a sound and fury that cradles - sometimes like a loving mother, and other times like a bed of razor blades. But it is always hauntingly beautiful. And she’ll be bringing that sound and fury to Space 1026 when she opens for avant-pop Brooklynites Ava Luna. They'll also be joined by Philly psych-popsters Laser Background. Come out for a rare performance at the Chinatown art space! Space 1026, 1026 Arch St., $10, All Ages (Photo by Skyler Burkhart) - Keith Kelley

New Video: "Stars" (Live) - Abi Reimold

Abi Reimold is currently working on the follow-up to this year's critically-acclaimed release Wriggling. However, we so have a sampling of a new song for you today called "Stars," which was recorded live by Josh Nesmith and Brian Firestone at DIY space The Treehouse in Harrisburg, PA while on tour with Emily Yacina. In an email to Stereogum, Reimold shares, "I have a lot of full band arrangements on the record, but I wrote many of the songs with a loop pedal. Although I’m excited about how the recordings are turning out, I think that the truest and most honest form of these songs is just me playing them by myself with my looper.”

Abi Reimold LP Release Show at JB's April 28

With her debut LP Wriggling that was released earlier this year via Sad Cactus, Abi Reimold continued her ascendance. Reimold lyrically navigates in a mind-cleansing scenario, pulling at both ends of dynamics. On one hand, she strings narratives together through an extending path that reveals inner workings, while breaking down personal barriers in a delicate bare manner. However, she still manages to exhibit a furious volatile element, which is capable of chewing up and spitting out any roadblock that lies ahead. That balance of beauty and brashness - a calm, which quickly transforms into chaos makes Reimold (who is accompanied by a full band this evening) a force to reckon with. Tonight at Johnny Brenda’s, she'll celebrate with a record release performance, joined by the high-leveraging ebb and flow of grunge-punks Loose Tooth. Jacqueline Constance erects precise layers of encompassing soulful R&B, while Reimold’s Fake Boyfriend compatriot Sarah M. opens providing an incisive, comforting eeriness. Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita
